Email Marketing Tips & Tricks
Testing Your Email
A few aspects of an e-mail campaign are relatively easy to test. Be sure to check all of the following:
- Format - make sure your format is compatible with the most popular e-mail software (Outlook, Outlook Express, Gmail, Hotmail, etc) and Web Browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari). Look for strange characters, odd line breaks, links that do not work and general readability.
- Subject line - try a number of different subject lines to small subsets of your group to see which one gets the best results.
- Lists - mail the exact same message to different lists at exactly the same time to see how many bounce back.
- Pricing - evaluate how different price points affect your campaign response.
- Length - do shorter or longer, information dense e-mails work best with your prospects or customers?
- Day and time - determine what day of the week and time of the day works best.
- Response mechanism - you can have people respond via e-mail, have them call, or the most popular and logical - have them click-through to a landing page on your website.
