Administrator level access is required to activate Act!

Starting with Windows Vista back in 2007, Microsoft introduced limitations to the User Control Access (UAC) so that only applications with administrator privileges could access important parts of Windows.

These limitations may result in the message “Administrator level access is require to activate this product” when registering Act!. This message is quite common with Windows 10 users. Even if you are using an Administrator account, you may be running as a Standard User and therefore need to allow Act! to use your Administrator privileges.

This is easy enough to do with a simple right-click on the Act! icon on the Desktop.

How to allow full administrator access when registering Act!
    1. Locate the Act! icon/shortcut on your Desktop.
    2. Right-click the icon/shortcut, and then click ‘Run as administrator’.

Run as Administrator

  1. When the UAC message is displayed, do one of the following:
    • If you are logged on as a standard user, or if UAC is configured to always require credentials, enter the appropriate administrative credentials, and then click OK.
    • If you are logged on as an administrator and UAC is not configured to always require credentials, click Yes to start the application.
  2. Attempt to register Act! again
