My journey into the world of Act! began many years ago when I was selling Information Technology to the United States Government. The company I was working for in the USA desperately needed a system that would allow us to seamlessly liaise with every branch of the government you can think of. This included, but was not limited to, the Army, Navy, Air Force, State, Federal and Local Governments.

My client needed to track suppliers, subcontractors, customers, projects and more across all of the States in America and some overseas. The needs and demands of this company were comprehensive and once I implemented Act! I realised how much power and flexibility this software tool provided. Utilising Act!, I was able to turn an $100K annual account into $3M within one year – evidence of success with CRM. It was simply a case of identifying the need and implementing the solution.

Fortunately, this was not the only organisation where I introduced a brilliant CRM system. Over the past 12 years, I have been responsible for implementing Act! for a wide variety of businesses. Most of these businesses realised that they needed change but did not know how to go about it. Things were slipping through the cracks and business was not thriving. In each case, the business needed a Customer Relationship Management tool, something easy to use and that could provide quick results. Act! is definitely my favorite tool…but it’s not all about tools. You need to define your end goals first and then work backwards. Do you want new customers? Do you want to increase revenue? Do you want to reach existing customers? Do you want to increase customer loyalty? The answers will affect how you implement your Act! solution.

Once you have defined what you want, you can then start making things happen. It can seem quite daunting at first so I often recommend starting off small and developing Act! into the different areas of your business processes and systems over time.
